Repeater Infrastructure
An infrastructure repeater is a community-run node intended to provide persistent coverage to the Austin Mesh network. Below is the current list of primary sites, their operational status, and details on each install. Sites Wanted
If you have rooftop, tower, or hill-top access in one of these areas(or anywhere else with line-of-sight), reach out to info@austinmesh.org or join Discord and tag @Tommy Ekstrand
- All antenna & water towers: especially in connecting cities, Bastrop, Georgetown, Burnet, Temple, Marble Falls, Kyle/Buda, San Marcos, Lockhart, San Antonio, Blanco, Johnson City, Fredericksburg, Kerrville, Llano.
- Any buildings or hilltops with 5+mi views: while we want to grow the network wide, having in depth neighborhood coverage is critical especially during natural disasters.
- ACC Pinnacle Campus: 7748 Highway 290 W, Austin, TX 78736 - provides bridge from Austin to the Hill Country and coverage of much of South and West Austin.
- Tower of the Hills / Chase Bank: 13809 Research Blvd, Austin, TX 78750 - strong bridge between Austin/Cedar Park/Leander, plus provides direct coverage for much of North Austin.
- The Domain: Any taller buildings, specifically Domain Tower 2(10025 Alterra Pkwy, Austin, TX 78758), Domain 12(11800 Alterra Pkwy, Austin, TX 78758), or Domain 9(11624 Burnet Rd, Austin, TX 78758).
- Bee Cave / Lakeway: specifically Hill Country Galleria, Flint Rock Hill/Lake Travis High School, Round Mountain/Bella Montagna.
- Pflugerville / Round Rock: these are the two areas of most opportunity to expand coverage. We’re looking for any businesses or land owners with rooftop or antenna access.
- Bastrop: The ridges near McKinney Roughs Nature Park or hills(like Lotman Hill) Northeast of Bastrop provide natural elevation that would connect to Austin. Antenna masts, roofs, and water towers are also key spots.
- i35 Corridor: There are other pockets of mesh networks to our South and North. Repeaters anywhere along i35 would help bridge the major population areas in Texas.

- The Independent Condos host 3 solar powered nodes. One of the East Northeast corner, one on the West Southwest corner, and one inbetween them to “bridge” because they can’t directly see each other.

Spring Condos

- The Spring Condos host one solar powered node with a 6dbi fiberglass antenna that covers much of South Austin including South Lamar, Town Lake, and Zilker Park.

- The Univertsity of Texas at Austin Physics, Math, and Astronomy building hosts 2 nodes. This site is home to lots of RF energy, and so it’s node hosts a more powerful radio along with inline RF filtering.

- The Wimberley Valley Amateur Radio Club(WVARC) hosts one solar repeater on a hilltop tower in Wimberley. It provides connection all the way to Southwest Austin, and even connects directly with The Independent Southwest node.

- The Automotive Specialists repeater(most often referred to as A300) is mounted on top of a 10m garage in Oak Hill. The owner of the business, Leslie, is an extremely friendly man who is supportive of his community and their communication. It was installed in June of 2026.
