New Haven County CT Mesh is a community project focused on learning, experimenting with, and expanding practical Meshtastic communications in Connecticut.

The idea

Meshtastic makes it possible to build small radio networks from affordable, low-power devices. The technology is interesting as a maker project, a way to learn about radio and networking, and a potential tool for communication when conventional connectivity is unavailable.

We are interested in all of those uses — without pretending that a hobbyist mesh replaces professional emergency communications.

What we value

• Practical testing: measure real links instead of assuming a map is correct.
• Local knowledge: terrain and buildings matter, so local experience matters.
• Responsible operation: follow applicable radio rules and manufacturer instructions.
